Episode 2: Jaye North on Grief, Motherhood, Family & Finding Strength Through Loss

This episode of Storme Diaries is a truly special one. Jaye North joins me for a heartfelt conversation about family, motherhood, grief and the incredible strength that can be found even during life's most difficult moments. Together, we talk about growing up after losing a parent, raising five children, becoming a grandmother, and navigating the heartbreaking loss of her mum just before welcoming her fifth child into the world. It's emotional, inspiring and full of perspective. Jaye's warmth, resilience and gratitude shine throughout this conversation, and her story is a powerful reminder to cherish the people we love and appreciate the moments that matter most.

There are some conversations that stay with you long after you've stopped recording, and this was definitely one of them.

In Episode 2 of Storme Diaries, I sit down with the lovely Jaye North for a heartfelt conversation about motherhood, family, loss and the people who shape us into who we become.

Jaye is a mum of five and a proud grandmother, and throughout this episode she shares some of the most important chapters of her life. We talk about losing her dad at a young age, the incredible strength of her mum who raised the family through difficult times, and the heartbreaking experience of losing her mum to cancer just before welcoming her fifth child into the world.

As mums, we often spend so much time looking forwards that we forget to stop and reflect on the people who helped get us here. What I loved most about this conversation was hearing Jaye speak about her family with so much love, gratitude and appreciation, even through the hardest moments.

It's emotional, honest and full of those little reminders we all need from time to time — to hold our loved ones close, to appreciate the present, and to never underestimate our own strength.

Whether you're navigating motherhood, dealing with loss, or simply love hearing real stories from inspiring women, I think you'll really connect with Jaye's journey.

A Few Things I Took Away From This Conversation

✨ Family shapes so much of who we become Listening to Jaye talk about her parents was a reminder that the people who raise us leave footprints on our hearts forever.

✨ Strength often shows up quietly Sometimes resilience isn't about being fearless. It's simply about continuing to move forward when life gives you no other choice.

✨ There is no right way to navigate grief Everyone's journey looks different, but sharing our stories can help others feel less alone.

✨ Motherhood never really ends Whether your children are babies, adults or have children of their own, the love and care you feel as a parent never disappears.

✨ Gratitude can exist alongside sadness One of the things I admired most about Jaye was her ability to speak about loss whilst still focusing on love, appreciation and the memories that matter most.
