Welcome back to Storme Diaries ๐ค This week's episode is a conversation full of honesty, laughter and unforgettable stories with the lovely Sian Sheekey. Sian is a lash artist, mum of two and someone who isn't afraid to speak her mind. From becoming a mum at just 17 to navigating motherhood and raising children in today's world, this episode covers so many important conversations whilst still being full of humour.
Sian shares what it was like having her first baby at 17 and why she had to fight to have the home birth she knew she wanted. She tells the story of her partner arriving home from a day on the building site just in time for the birth โ only insisting on having a shower first before meeting his baby.
We also talk about her second pregnancy, which she only discovered after being admitted to hospital during COVID with meningitis. Sian opens up about the fear of that experience, as well as at one point suffering a molar pregnancy.
Of course, there are plenty of lighter moments too. Sian shares why she was desperate for a ginger baby (and admits she cried when her son wasn't!), being mistaken for a college student when taking her son to college, growing up as one of seven children, and how her parents now foster children.
As a successful lash artist, Sian explains why sitting in the lash chair often becomes so much more than a beauty appointment, with clients opening up about their lives in ways they don't anywhere else. We also discuss the pressures facing today's teenagers, Generation Z, Snapchat, parenting through social media, and why she believes schools and teachers can sometimes forget the importance of compassion.
As always, no Storme Diaries episode would be complete without talking about everything in between. We dive into motherhood, relationships, home birth, parenting teenagers, social media, grief, resilience, finding humour through life's challenges and embracing every season of life. โจ
