Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍
This week I'm joined by my 17th guests, Charley & Danielle — my first ever mum and daughter duo — for a conversation full of honesty, vulnerability, motherhood and some really interesting discussions.
Danielle talks about growing up with a dad who was a detective, while Charley opens up about her dad's struggles with bipolar disorder and mental health, and how her grandparents stepped in and played such an important role in her childhood. After losing her grandad, Charley struggled with health anxiety and shares her experience of cognitive behavioural therapy and counselling.
Danielle talks about working in a nursery and her previous experience as a nanny, including the differences between the two. Charley opens up about becoming a young mum, having her children close together and learning that there really is no manual when it comes to motherhood — because every baby is different.
We also talk about how midwives and maternity care have changed over the years, seeing spirits, NICU experiences, breastfeeding, children's diets and preservatives and colourings, injections, and the reality of motherhood behind the picture-perfect version we see on social media.
There really is no manual when it comes to motherhood — because every baby is different.
And we finish with the very different experiences of being a mum versus becoming a nan. 🤍
