Episode 8: Carla Fuller on Motherhood, Identity, Business & Backing Yourself

This week on Storme Diaries I sit down with the lovely Carla Fuller for a conversation that feels like a proper heart to heart with a friend. We chat about motherhood, identity, building a business whilst raising little ones, the mental load so many mums quietly carry, and what it really takes to back yourself when life feels overwhelming. Carla is honest, warm and refreshingly real, and this episode is packed with the kind of reminders every woman needs to hear.

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is such a special one. I sit down with the wonderful Carla Fuller for a conversation that feels less like a podcast recording and more like a long overdue catch up with a friend.

Carla is a mum, a business woman and one of those women who is quietly juggling so much whilst still showing up for everyone around her — something I know so many of you will relate to.

We talk about motherhood in all its beautiful and messy forms, from the highs to the moments that push you to your limits. Carla opens up about the version of herself she was before becoming a mum, how motherhood has reshaped her identity, and what it really feels like to figure out who you are again once your little ones arrive.

"You don't lose yourself in motherhood. You just meet a new version of you — and she needs a little grace whilst she settles in."

We also chat about building a business alongside raising a family, the reality of the mental load, and why so many women feel guilty for wanting something of their own. Carla is proof that ambition and motherhood can absolutely live in the same sentence, and her honesty around the juggle is so refreshing.

Of course, no Storme Diaries chat would be complete without laughter, tangents and a few too-real moments. From confidence, comparison and social media, to the pressure women put on themselves and learning to actually back yourself, nothing was off limits.

This one is warm, honest and full of little reminders that so many women need to hear.

In This Episode We Chat About...

🤍 Life before motherhood and how identity shifts when the babies arrive 🤍 Building a business whilst raising a family 🤍 The mental load and everything mums carry behind the scenes 🤍 Mum guilt and giving yourself permission to want more 🤍 Confidence, comparison and social media 🤍 The pressure women put on themselves 🤍 Learning to back yourself when life feels overwhelming 🤍 Finding your people and leaning on your support system 🤍 The lessons motherhood teaches you about yourself 🤍 Why honest conversations between women matter so much

A Few Things I Took Away From This Conversation

✨ Motherhood doesn't erase you It reshapes you. And that new version of you deserves patience, not pressure.

✨ Ambition and motherhood belong together Wanting something of your own doesn't make you any less of a mum. If anything, it makes you a better one.

✨ The mental load is real And naming it out loud is the first step to sharing it.

✨ Confidence is a practice, not a personality trait Carla's honesty around backing herself is such a beautiful reminder that we all get to choose how we speak to ourselves.

✨ Real friendships change everything Surrounding yourself with women who cheer you on is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.
