Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍
For episode 25, I'm joined by Ruby Cooke for a conversation about motherhood, ADHD, birth trauma, business, spirituality and the power of choosing a positive mindset, even when life doesn't go to plan.
Ruby is someone who tries to see the positive in every situation and believes that the energy and mindset we bring into our lives can make a difference. As a mum, she wants to create a positive environment for her children, teaching them to see the good in the world while navigating the realities of motherhood herself.
We talk about Ruby's experience of ADHD, from knowing something was different when she was younger to receiving her diagnosis as an adult. She shares how ADHD affects her life and why she has chosen not to take medication, instead finding her own ways to understand herself and manage her day-to-day life.
We also get into her journey into motherhood, including her experience with polycystic ovaries, the emotions that came with becoming a first-time mum and the traumatic birth that changed her experience of motherhood. Ruby opens up about having an emergency C-section, her epidural not working as expected and the complications she experienced afterwards, including fluid leaking around her spine. It's a reminder that birth stories don't always go the way we imagine, and that the impact of a difficult birth can stay with us long after the baby arrives.
Motherhood also became the motivation behind Ruby's business journey. After winning Faces of Essex, she went on to build her own aesthetics business, turning an opportunity into something of her own. We talk about the reality of building a business while raising children, following your ambitions and creating a life that feels right for you.
And, of course, we explore Ruby's spiritual side! From affirmations and manifestation to crystals, moon water and her connection with the moon and stars, we chat about the things that help her feel grounded and positive. We also discuss children modelling, how much the world has changed and the way we want to raise our children in a very different generation.
This is an honest conversation about finding your own way, trusting yourself and learning that motherhood, business and personal growth don't have to look the same for everyone.
✨ In this episode, we discuss: • Ruby's experience of ADHD and receiving a diagnosis as an adult • Why she has chosen not to take ADHD medication • Motherhood and wanting to raise children in a positive environment • PCOS and her journey into motherhood • Her traumatic first birth and emergency C-section • The complications she experienced after giving birth • How becoming a mum inspired her business journey • Winning Faces of Essex and building her aesthetics business • Balancing motherhood, work and personal ambitions • Manifestation, affirmations and positive thinking • Crystals, spirituality, moon water and the power of the moon • Children modelling and raising children in today's world • Finding what works for you and trusting your own journey
What I loved about this conversation is how openly we could talk about the different parts of life that make us who we are. From the difficult moments to the things that bring us joy, there's so much to learn when we allow people to share their stories without judgement.
That's what Storme Diaries is all about: real people, real conversations and the hope that, somewhere in someone's story, you might find a little piece of your own and feel less alone. 🤍
